Different Types of Alloys & their uses

You might see the word alloy represented as a "mixture of metals", however that is a little bit misleading as a result of some alloys contain only one metal and it's mixed in with different substances that are nonmetals (cast iron, as an example, is an alloy made of just one metal, iron, mixed with one nonmetal, carbon). the most effective way to consider an alloy is as a material that is made up of a minimum of two completely different chemical parts, one of that is a metal. the most important metallic component of an alloy (often representing 90 % or more of the material) is called the main metal, the parent metal, or the base metal.
