Sahitya Academy Award

Sahitya Akademi Award is a literary honor in India which Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, annually confers on writers of the most outstanding books of literary merit published in any of the major Indian languages recognized by the Sahitya Akademi.
Established in 1954, the award comprises a plaque and a cash prize of Rs. 100,000. The award's purpose is to recognize and promote excellence in Indian writing and also acknowledge new trends.

Padma Awards 2015

President Pranab Mukherjee has announced the name of recipients of this year’s Padma awards. He approved conferment of 104 Padma Awards. Padma Awards, the country’s highest civilian awards, are conferred in three categories viz. Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
This year’s list comprises 9 Padma Vibhushan, 20 Padma Bhushan and 75 Padma Shri Ahri Awardees.

IFFI Awards: 5th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2014

The International film festival of india (IFFI), founded in 1952,is one of the foremost significant film festivals in Asia. held annually within the state of goa, on the western coast of the country, the festival aims at providing a standard platform for the cinemas of the world to project the excellence of the film art; contributive to the understanding and appreciation of film cultures of different nations in the context of their social and cultural ethos; and promoting friendly relationship and cooperation among people of the world.
5th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) was held in Goa from 20th November to 30th November, 2014. The chief guest of the film festival was Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan.

68th British Academy Film Awards 2015

The 68th British Academy Film Awards commonly known as British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) was held on 8 February 2015 at The Royal Opera House in London to honour the best British and Interatioal contribution to fillm in 2014.
Eddie Redmayne won the Best Actor in BAFTA Film Awards.

The 60^th Filmfare Awards were held on the 31th January, 2015 at the Yash Raj Studio in Mumbai.

Best Director: Vikas Bahl for movie Queen.

Best Actor: Shahid Kapoor for movie Haider.

Best Actress: Kangana Ranaut for Movie Qeen.

The 57^th Annual Grammy Awards were announced at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Miss World 2014: South Africa's Rolene Strauss

Miss South Africa, 22-year-old Rolene Strauss won Miss World 2014 pageant on 14^th December, 2014. Strauss is the first Miss World titleholder from South Africa in 40 years and the first to win the competition in more than 55 years.

The ceremony also featured a tribute to Indian actress Aishwarya Rai, Miss World 1994.

Miss Universe 2015: it awarded the 2014 winner.

Miss Universe is an annual international beauty pageant that is run by the Miss Universe Organization. Along with the Miss World and Miss Earth contests, Miss Universe is one of the three largest beauty pageants in the world in terms of the number of national-level competitions, and one of the most anticipated beauty pageants worldwide. The pageant was founded in 1952 by the California clothing company Pacific Mills.

Eric Betzig (US), Stefan W.  Hell (Germany) and William E. Moerner (US) for the development of super-resolved fluorescence microscopy.

DSC Prize 2015: Indian American Pulitzer Prize

Indian American Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri has won prestigious DSC Prize for South Asian Literature 2015. On 22th February, 2015.

The Indian American writer Jhumpa Lahiri has won Asia’s richest literary prize for her novel The Lowland, which pivots around the Naxalite uprisings of the 1960s.

Padma Vibhushan Awards 2015

The Padma Vibhushan Award is the second highest civilian Awards of the country. It consists of a medal and a citation and is awarded by the President of India. It was established on 2 January 1954. It ranks behind the Bharat Ratna and comes before the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

The Awards are given in various disciplines: science and engineering, literature, education, art, social work, public affairs, trade and industry, medicine, sports, civil service, etc.
