Earth Hour 2015 Observed across the world

To show their growing concern over climate change, people all over the globe observed the 9th edition of Earth Hour on March 28, 2015 by switching off their lights. All the electrical appliances were put off for one hour in order to increase awareness.
Earth Hour is an annual campaign started by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund), to raise awareness for the need of sustainable energy.
Earth Hour takes place from 8.30 PM local time and encourages citizens,
communities, businesses and organizations to switch the lights off for an hour to highlight the plight of the planet. This year it came ahead of a crucial UN meeting in Paris in December which is bringing together the global community in an effort to limit global warming.
Thane named India’s Earth Hour Capital
An 11 member international jury on April 9m 2015 declared Thane the National Earth Hour Capital with the emerging winner from India in the Earth City Challenge this year.

9th edition of Earth Hour was observed across the world.

Over 170 countries participated in the event and more than 1,200 landmarks along with 40 unesco world heritage sites observed the earth Hour.
Earth Hour is an annual international event organized by the WWF.
The initiative began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia and later became global event.
This day encourages citizens, communities, businesses and organizations to switch the lights off from 8:30 pm time for an hour to highlight the plight of the world.
